Tween 20, Polysorbate 20, Polyoxyethylene Sorbitan 20, Emulsifier T-20, other names including Alkest TW 20, are mild nonionic surfactants formed by ethoxylation of sorbitan before addition of lauric acid which is a simple chain fatty acid found mainly in coconut oil. It is justified to be used as an emulsifier, detergent, dispersant, solvent and stabilizer, etc. in many fields such as the pharmaceutical industry, chemicals, food, textiles and others due to its relative stability and toxicity.
