Optical Brightening Agent (OBA) plays a very important role because these compounds have unique characteristics and work methods that other compounds do not have. OBA treats light in such a way that if we illuminate an object that has been added to OBA it will get the desired white shades on that object. Before OBA was widely known, people made paper whiter by conventional methods, such as using pulp that had a high degree of whiteness, using blue and violet dyes, using white pigment such as lime (CaCO3).
