Sodium bisulfate is a crystalline substance that forms crystalline hydrate (NaHSO₄). Under normal conditions, NaHSO₄ is a colorless hydroscopic crystal (capable of absorbing water).
Sodium bisulfate has been found in industrial applications - for example, used in the manufacture of non-ferrous metals, to convert water-soluble compounds to soluble sulfates, and to increase the acidity of water in swimming pools. As a food additive, sodium bisulfate has a code E514.
